Read MoreAs a Chinese-American photographer, my work has influenced my identity through the diversity of my experiences… I was born in Harbin City, China, and was adopted by American parents at the age of six and a half. At the time, I felt confused about why two Americans would adopt me. One could say it was fate that brought me to America but for my entire life, I had felt empty trying to satisfy a deep desire to understand why I’m here. This sparked my fascination with the art of photography and the loss of my world trying to find a deeper meaning for who I am and the chaos and blurry landscape of my life.
I believe that fashion is a staple for being unique and expressing our true selves and that fashion is not just one piece of clothing or one particular type of look, it is the unique personality of that person and having the significance of the motion/blur intertwined with the human form is to show the abstract connection between the subject, clothing, and artist (me).
It is also a way for me to express my feelings about being lost, depressed, and bold, and continue pushing the boundaries with my photographs. Someday I wish to merge fashion, running, and mindfulness all into one big image to better understand the world that I and 7.888 billion people try and want to achieve before we all leave this earth and inspire the younger generation and all humans, no matter the color of their skin or beliefs that they have the power or what I like to call the “green light” to express themselves freely and I will continue to push life to its full limits through the only way I know-how, which is through the power and mindfulness of photography.
