Artist Statement
“She wakes at night and watches a moth drawn to the light, only to perish in its glow. It reminds her of the dangers of chasing shiny objects—money, fame, and obsession. Our senses can deceive us; just because something feels right doesn’t mean it’s true. Sometimes, we forget that darkness, though daunting, can be a friend. Shiny object syndrome blinds us, but it’s the courage to face the dark that keeps us truly alive.”
Artist Bio
As a child, I was raised by my witchy grandmother, a medium who spent her days healing my war-wounded grandfather. While she was busy with her rituals, I often found myself locked in a room, afraid of the shadows and visions that surrounded me. At the time, I didn’t understand that what terrified me most was part of a gift—an ability to perceive beyond the surface of reality.
Symbolic Story Telling
Each work presented as an artifact – like a science experiment - each moth pinned behind glass to study and examine the beautiful insects.
