Ewa Monka was born in mining town Katowice in 1987. She graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in 2011 with a degree in graphic design. The most crucial role in her paintings is played by color as it speaks to the spectator as well as it plays an emotional game with him/her. Underneath the layer of clear, cold and vibrating colors the artist presents themes bringing on meditation.
Topics presented by Ewa are mostly human characters.
She is strongly influenced by the theme of women in culture, their rights and the way they are presented.
In her art, she focuses on the tones of nowaday’s socio-cultural turmoil. She spent years improving Silesian houses by means of Danish and Polish design. Nowadays she is completely focused on making and promoting art among the local community. She creates and coordinates art workshops for oncological patients in Gibinski University Clinical Center and promotes local artists. She participated in Silesian art festivals: High Culture Festival in Bytom and Art Naif organized in Wilson Shaft Gallery. Her work has been shown in Warsaw, Katowice, Poznan and Bytom.
Her paintings can be found in private art collections in Poland and Switzerland.
