Luigi Minguzzi's interest for art begins in the mid-1960s with polymateric painting.
From 1970-71 canvas are replaced by a back-painted sheet of plexiglass so that it is possible to see the painting from the other side.
In 1975 his work evolves into the optical style which is interpreted with a completely new technique: the painting is seen through the transparency of the plexiglass sheet and adds a remarkable brightness to it which enhances the optical effect.
Luigi Minguzzi focused on the optical style for a few decades, until the digital technique and 3D graphics allowed him to start a new phase of experimental painting. He had always been influenced by his education and visionary instinct.
In 2009-10 he reached the conclusion that the time had come for the beginning of a new strong interaction between art and technology. He believed this blend could open a whole new world of representation until then impossible.
This process starts with the optical digitalisation of his previous works, transformed into three-dimensional objects. These new objects are inserted and manipulated in 3D virtual space. This allows the creation of new images of great visual impact. The contamination with human-like elements and photos makes them suitable for telling a story.
Luigi Minguzzi lives and works in Ravenna where he was born in 1947.
His scientific and technical education - degree in Physics - has strongly affected his career path as well as his artistic development.
Besides painting, to which he has always devoted himself with great passion, he has covered different professional positions.
In 2012, together with two fellow artists, he founded "Multiverso Studio", a sort of reinaissance studio, a new project where the creative momentum is harnessed towards a relentless artistic research.
His artistic production has definitely been influenced by the hobbies and interests of his youth, in particular diving, and flying - he got his pilot license in 1968 - in addition to his interest for Physics and the natural environment
