Piotr
Michnikowski
Artist-sculptor,
born in Warsaw in 1960.
He graduated from the Warsaw Academy of
Fine Arts in Warsaw (diploma in 1985 at the sculpture department in
the studio of prof. Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz).
The main
directions of creative work: Intimate bronze sculpture, ceramics -
ceramic sculpture in the RAKU technique, glazed paintings/ceramic
reliefs based on own recipes and glazing techniques, and interactive
mobile installations on the border of sculpture and music -
instruments and playing mechanisms.
He deals with the
creation of sculptures and structures, including the construction of
unusual musical instruments, as well as a small form in bronze,
ceramics, steel and wood, experiments with sounds and music,
introducing them as an element of spatial works. Characteristic is
the use of ceramic glazes of his own authorship, which he treats as a
painting matter for polychrome sculptures and reliefs.
The
subject matter of the works is seemingly very diverse, ranging from
figurative, animalistic, through abstraction, moving mechanical
objects and instruments. However, reflection on existence and asking
questions about the essence of human inner life is always dominant.
