What am I trying to interpret with my paintings?
I have always wondered why our species, so endowed with intelligence, is the only one projected towards self-destruction.
I think this is the reason that pushed me towards interests such as evolution, cultural anthropology and mass psychology. In addition, ten years of psychoanalysis led me, among other experiences, to search for a link between the animal instinct and what we call the unconscious in us.
I have always thought through images, it is my necessity, the same necessity that has prompted me to visit archaeological sites throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas and to visit lots of museums.
We are a complex society of predators, which has always been dominated by an elite that, over the millennia, has never lost its main prerogative: the absolute contempt for human life. It is always the elites who decide wars, not the masses.
It’s the predatory beast which is in all of us who permeates, in various ways, my paintings.
