Vertebral

Vertebral is an architecture, art and landscaping studio founded in Mexico City by Elias Kalach and Teddy Nanes in 2016.

The approach to projects always follows the same logic, despite being in different social, political and geographical contexts.

The studio is not governed by an aesthetic ideal or by a geometric predisposition, but by a search that arises from the exercise of observation, in order to approach the understanding of a site and a series of circumstances that give input and guidelines to architecture.

VERTEBRAL is a workshop that, in the field of architecture, envisions and trusts in an alternative reality where gardens reintegrate into the city, and its spaces foster the reconciliation and embrace of a society that currently feels distant, estranged, and indifferent towards its surroundings.

Vertebral’s work is defined by a deep sensitivity to context and a belief in the power of architecture to evoke emotional and physical connection. Whether through built form, curated exhibitions, or musical improvisation, their artistic projects often blur the boundaries between art and architecture. Their exploration focuses on the ephemeral relationships between space, human presence, and rhythm. Each project acts as a living response to its context both architectural and social.

Kalach is also co-founder of ÑÚ, a curatorial platform and gallery that represents artists through site-specific and itinerant exhibitions, emphasizing spatial dialogue as a fundamental element of artistic experience.
