ANTONIO MENCHÓN, Spanish painter and the creator of ARTxSTONE®, a pictorial language in which hyperrealist painting and stone become part of the same visual and conceptual structure. Through my work, I explore the relationship between identity, memory and material permanence, developing a contemporary form of portraiture deeply connected to the Spanish figurative tradition.
In ARTxSTONE®, stone is not merely a support, but an active presence within the artwork itself. Cracks, mineral textures and natural imperfections become part of the image, creating a dialogue between human fragility and permanence. Through this fusion of technical precision and raw materiality, I seek to build works that exist between classical painting and contemporary symbolic representation.
My work has been presented in institutions and cultural spaces including Teatro Real Madrid, Museo Picasso Málaga, Centro Pompidou Málaga, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Querétaro, Mutua Madrid Open and Distrito Telefónica. My portraits and artworks are part of institutional and private collections in Spain, Mexico and the United States, including Patrimonio Nacional (Spain).
Among my most recognized institutional works are the official portraits of H.M. King Felipe VI, including La Solidez de un Reinado (2025), created for the 10th Anniversary of the Reign and delivered in official audience at the Royal Palace of El Pardo
