Joris Martens is a multi-disciplinary Belgian artist with a unique and recognizable style. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, at the Academy for Fine Arts in Antwerp and at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten Amsterdam. He lives and works in a forest in Flanders, Belgium where he investigates the fluid identity of nature and man. He practices visual storytelling with emotional impact to induce empathy. His work is included in international art collections, counting the MoMa Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Plantin Moretus Museum in Antwerp.
Joris Martens tries to create a reality without contours. He abolishes the boundaries between art and design and thereby he connects people and works of art. He finds new ways to represent inner and outer worlds. With a language as visually poetic as it is gentle, he seeks to make the world transparent, inviting individuals to resonate with its inherent beauty rather than feel distanced from it.
