Artist from Cagliari, born in 1961. Tinamaria Marongiu approaches the world of art as an interpreter of pop music. At the end of the 70s she moved to Rome where she established a collaboration with already established authors and producers who would give her the opportunity to make and publish her first 45 rpm. At the beginning of the 80s, with the album entitled "Contremano", her musical success arrives. Her great curiosity and need for new expressive methods will be the impetus for an incessant work of research and experimentation. She is the author of her own songs, poetry, photography, up to the visual arts. In 2010 she realizes her first works of “ARTE COMPATTA” Box-Es.
Material creations devoid of planning, with the desire to express themselves freely within an approved and conformist society.
In 2011 she participates in the Chianciano Biennial and wins the 3rd “Leonardo Prize” in the “Applied Arts” section.
In October 2020 at the 43rd Medusa Aurea International Award "AIAM" she is 1st classified, gold medal, for sculpture.
In June 2021 she exhibits at the “London Art Biennale” and receives the 4th Prize ex aequo with further exhibition in London
In 2022 she exhibits at the “Biennale di Chianciano” and wins the 1st Prize in the Applied Art section.
The fame and originality of her Box-Es lead her to exhibit successfully in Europe, the UK and the USA.
COMPACT ART
“MANIFESTO”
A document outlining the core principles of Compact Art, proposing a specific and contemporary vision of art.
• Compact Art is free from all preconceptions.
• It promotes respect for the freedom of thought and personal choice in one’s own life.
• It encourages universal brotherly love and respect for human beings, animals, objects, and the planet we inhabit, through acts of care and attention.
• It rejects all forms of standardization that suppress and render individuals unable to express their own ideas and unique qualities, blinding them to themselves and to a true vision of the world.
• It stands against social discrimination in any form and fosters inclusion.
• It rejects violence.
• It encourages acts of peace, trust, and generosity towards others, promoting collaboration.
The five U’s — five words that represent the guiding concepts of this artistic perspective:
Uniqueness – Universality – Union – Humanity – Equality.
These five U’s form the foundation of the Manifesto of Compact Art, establishing a powerful connection between art and the social dimension.
The Three-Dimensional Works of Compact Art
These are the creations of the artist who, free from planning, explores their own instinctive perception and sensitivity through the unconditional choice of materials—experimenting without limitation.
They manipulate, collect, welcome, and integrate, creating a unified whole, part by part, with every component connected to the others.
Organic and inorganic materials, colors, discarded objects, and fragments of life emerge—subtle perceptions of lived experiences, consumerist excesses, and urgent calls for social and environmental action.
An endless flow of fullness and emptiness, reflecting the pulse of our contemporary world, comes together to form a unified, perceptible body within the structure of each artwork.
It may resemble a “game” of creation, yet one with a precise and undeniable purpose, revealed through the very act of creation—the work itself containing its own indelible and “complete meaning.”
This creative process goes beyond traditional notions of painting and sculpture. Through its “compact” approach, it carves out a new space and a specific definition within the creative act:
Compact Art.
The five U’s take shape deep within social dynamics, turning art into a powerful tool for seeking change and fostering reflection.
These principles not only enrich the artistic experience but also provide a framework for understanding and addressing today’s social challenges—promoting a more inclusive and aware society.
Interconnection of Elements
In a Compact Art piece, each component plays an essential role in building the artwork and its overall meaning.
Whether shapes, colors, materials, or concepts—nothing is superfluous or isolated.
Every element is interconnected, creating a complete experience that cannot be reduced to a single part.
Reflection on Meaning
The idea that no element stands above another leads to a more complex reflection on the meaning of the piece.
It offers the viewer the chance to observe how the different components integrate to form a cohesive, meaningful message—exploring the tensions and harmony between the various parts.
Visual and Conceptual Balance
The lack of a dominant component allows for both visual and conceptual balance.
This mix invites the observer to explore the work more deeply and thoughtfully, rather than stopping at a single interpretation.
This approach transforms the artwork into a continuous dialogue among its parts, stimulating broader reflection and opening up multiple layers of meaning.
Engagement
By not highlighting one part over another, the work encourages active participation in its interpretation.
It invites the viewer to engage with and discover the relationships among the various components—and with themselves—creating a personal and unique experience born from their own perceptions and feelings.
Valuing Diversity
This principle promotes the appreciation of diversity within the artwork.
Each element, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, holds value and contributes to the overall narrative.
THE FIVE “U”s
UNIQUENESS
Uniqueness in art represents the individuality of the artist through their personal vision and creativity.
Compact Art views art as unique and unrepeatable—unmistakable from any other form of artistic expression.
UNIVERSALITY
Universality implies that art can address themes and emotions that are universally recognized and understood.
UNION
Union highlights the importance of interconnectedness among materials and ideas, which, once unified, become something new in compact form.
HUMANITY
Humanity lies at the heart of art, as art must reflect the vision of the world—becoming visionary and anticipatory, a bearer of human experiences and emotions.
EQUALITY
Equality promotes equal access to art, recognizing that every voice holds value.
Each fragment within a compact work is sealed between thoughts, colors, resins, recycled matter, and shaped compositions.
Equality and recycled art intertwine in meaningful ways, contributing to an important dialogue between sustainability, inclusivity, and creativity.
