Margaret Zollinger is a freelance textile designer. Her artistic process is to be understood as a fundamental interplay between conscious control and deliberate loss of control. Her work is characterized by a strong conceptual approach and along with it the exploration of material is central. With experimental curiosity and creative material research she explores the limits (of materials) and thus create possibilities for action. The goal is always to develop unusual procedures, which bring forth seeming colors and structures, and in doing so, coincidence plays an important role.
She studied textile and surface design at the University of Arts Weissensee in Berlin (Germany) and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen (Denmark). She now works and lives in Zurich (Switzerland).
Her latest work "The Topography of Adaption" has won the first place at the Hue+Man Design competition in NYC and been exhibited in December 2021 at the Art Miami, Florida.
