The artist works wood as a surface of memory. Trunks smoothed by time and by hand become pages on which words emerge — drawn from history, poetry, and human thought.
Handwritten script is an essential gesture: it does not illustrate, but restores voice to matter. Each wood species suggests a text, as if it already held it within its own grain.
The work grows from a reflection on the value of memory and the need to preserve words capable of resisting time, giving them back a physical presence.
After a long career as a lecturer in Biochemistry, the artist has turned his practice toward a language that unites rigour and contemplation. In 2024, a work was selected and exhibited at the Summer Exhibition of the Royal Academy of Arts.
