Born in 1991 in Liège, Anna Mancuso lives and works in Brussels. She graduated in performing
arts/documentary cinema from ULiège in 2014 and currently works as a visual artist combining
documentary, video, and sculpture. Her research focuses on thwarted or diverted intentions. Produced
by detours, accidents, or the non-human, she brings forth narratives that tell themselves without anyone
deciding to tell them: pigeons that come to eat bread on computer keyboards, an inflatable mattress that
explodes a block of plaster, household robots that get lost in graphite dust, wind that pushes black
markers,...
Her work has recently been presented in group exhibitions; "Ni chair ni poisson" at Carrefour des arts
Foundation and "Down by the sea engines" at Îles Mardi. She has carried out action-sculptures during
events such as "Combinaison" at Face B Sablon, Art au centre#4 in Liège, and “A performance affair –
The second edition” at Vanderborght space. In parallel, she has worked in duo with Eva Mancuso on
performed readings combining literature and video.
Her films have been screened at Pebbles Underground Film and Video Art Festival (Toronto, Canada),
VideoBardo Festival International de Videopoesia (Buenos Aires, Argentine), Helios Sun Poetry Film
Festival (Mexico, Mexico), Maison Poème (Bruxelles, Belgique), Théâtre Mercelis (Bruxelles,
Belgique).
