Nacho was born in Madrid in August 1956 and began his artistic attempts at a young age after being moved to discover North American abstract expressionism on a study trip. Despite becoming a doctor from the Autonomous University of Madrid, his growing dedication to drawing and painting pushed him to continue with art as a passion. In the 00's he shows his works to the general public, in exhibitions, in art galleries and in interior design boutiques such as Armani Home or Indietro. Influenced by Pollock and Klee, he increased the iconographic factor and the abstract theme of his works. Little by little he incorporates geometric elements and doodles into his creations, putting his obsession in balance. With these works, Mallagray achieved national recognition and was proclaimed "Finalist" of the prestigious BMW Painting Award in 2006 for his canvas "TIZONA" and "Finalist" of the National Sculpture Contest "Villa de Parla" with his sculpture "DEFENDER" in 2009. Parallel to his artistic activity, Nacho Mallagray continues to practice as a doctor in his private clinic in Madrid. According to the artist, his goal is to enjoy art, paying special attention to emotion and balance.
