Oriol Magrans has been creating art since childhood. He
always has seen philosophy, science, humanism and art as expressions of the
same creativity that characterizes humankind. In adult life he developed a
professional life as scientist, but pursuing at the same time his development
as an artist with perseverance and passion. Nevertheless, only recently he started
sharing his works through public exhibitions.
As an artist he is eclectic and strongly resist to constrain
to any stile based on commercial criteria.
"You can only discover new paths if you are prepared to walk them
all", he says when he question about the variety of his creations. He
often puts Picasso as an example of someone who never accepted to be
"boxed" on an specific way to produce art. Confronting this claim of
absolute freedom, he also paradoxically says that whereas any limitation is a
constrain to the creativity, creativity feeds on the limitations. For this reason,
he forces himself to produce art using the minimal technical and material
resources. Craft is needed to do art, but the aim of a piece of art is not to
show the craftsmanship of its author. Artist he admire are Titian, Goya, Van Gogh,
Picasso and Miquel Barceló.
