João Paulo, 27, a portuguese biotechnologist by training, soon revealed that he had an artistic
vein. As a self-taught artist, his first works date back to 2007, when he started to develop his
skills as a painter. His passion for the sea and nature are his biggest source of inspiration, and
sometimes can be visible between the lines of his works an appeal to society to the dangers these
biomes face. However, many other interpretations are possible, given the eminently symbolic and
ambivalent character of many of the elements he paints.
His works are the progressive result of his complex and confused mind, shaped for his life
experience, with splashes of an insatiable need to combine geometric shapes with a mix of colors,
scenarios and contrasts; however, without never leave anything to chance. Basically, "an
organized mess", as himself likes to classify.
