Kamil Matziol (Maciol) born in 1979. I live and work in Szczecin. I belong to a generation of artists whose early childhood coincided with the political transformation in Poland. In the suburbs, where I grew up, the picture of passing reality - scarcity - influenced my development. And the birth of a new consumerism.
In 2000-2003 I studied photography at the AFA College of Photography in Wrocław. Diploma in the studio of dr hab. Professor Mirosław Araszewski.
In 2015-2019 I studied photography and multimedia at the Art Academy in Szczecin. I graduated with a master's degree in art. Diploma in the studio of dr. hab. Professor Łukasz Skąpski
My photographs consist of a series in which the main motif is a man and his existence. The environment he live in that might create a situation that is not comfortable and functional. I am also interested in the consumption nature of existence and the production effect as well as the change in the proportion between objects and people. The number of the existence of “things”, their short viability and searching for the answer to the question why we have just come to the place where we „create” and give meaning to such principles.
In my work, I have adopted a method that is a process of constant attempts to remember and reproduce, based on conceptual elements. Photographing can be an active way to change something. I am interested in the process of this endeavor.
