Blayne Macauley is a visual artist based in Atlanta, Georgia, working primarily in painting and photography. She studied oil painting at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy, and photography at Boston University. Her background as both painter and photographer informs her distinctive mixed-media style—layered, symbolic, and emotionally resonant.
Macauley’s work explores memory, loss, and the quiet moments that shape identity. Following the death of her father, a photographer, she began developing a personal visual language to hold onto memories too slippery for words. Her paintings distill emotion through gesture and color, while her photographs capture fragments of domestic life, childhood, and transformation.
She has exhibited nationally and internationally, with gallery representation in major U.S. markets. Her work has been featured in publications including House Beautiful, Dwell, Traditional Home, and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. She was featured on HGTV and the Magnolia Network through her collaborations with designer Brian Patrick Flynn.
Her practice centers around the belief that the more personal an image is, the more universal its resonance. Through layers of grief, joy, nostalgia, and wonder, Macauley invites the viewer to remember—honestly, imperfectly, and with feeling.
