Sculpture is my medium.
Specifically art furniture. There is a reason for functionality: I am
not interested in achieving a pristine showroom-perfect finished
state for my work. It's about process. The cycle of creation, decay,
repair. User interaction is an essential part of
that story.
Until recently, I
worked in antique restoration – and what my work inherits from that
background is the idea that each piece evolves and creates its own
history. Creation does not stop when the sculpture leaves my studio.
For this reason, my
sculptures are not overly precious, but command attention through
strength of character. The current series takes the umbrella title
“Imagined Creatures” – and comprises works loosely derived from mythology and
legend.
