-Daphna
Levi was born in Israel in 1972. She
lives and works in Tel Aviv. Engaging primarily in painting, she studied art as
part of an open program at Hamidrasha School of Art, Beit Berl Academic
College, Israel (1994), holds a diploma, with specialization in painting, from
the Accademia di Belle Arti, Florence, Italy (1999), and a diploma in
Curatorial and Museum Studies from Tel Aviv University (2006). Between 1994 and
2004, she lived and worked in Italy.
Levi's
paintings are abstract, but their point of departure is often physical/mental
observation. Her artistic language touches on the expressive, while
concurrently exploring the symbolic aspect, delving into patterns, structures,
and details. Her works range from modest to monumental in scale, and her color
palette is distinctive, focusing on elaboration of a limited number of shades.
Her work is inspired by classical and contemporary interior design and
architecture, as well as personal, autobiographical aspects, often addressing
textures, hues, and formal structures. Her works have been featured in solo
exhibitions in Italy and in various group exhibitions in Israel and other countries,
and can be found in private
collections in Israel and overseas.
