I use snapshots of films as a template. The action disappears from the still images. Brushstroke for Brushstroke I create paintings with painted illusions and with "eyes that follow you". My photo-realistic portraits are all painted in black and white with oil on canvas. The paintings give no indication of the events in the film and yet are full of drama. It is especially the eyes that almost haunt and seemingly look directly at you. Hopefully, these eyes won’t leave you untouched. Born in 1970 in Grieskirchen, in the north of Austria, I am not about painting photographs. They are just the starting point of my artistic concept, which creates suspense in the observer by omitting the plot.
