Ellie grew up in Greece but having lived in many different countries, she has been influenced by many different traditions of art. Through her studies in her BA and MA she had the chance to get familiar with the works of amazing artists from the classical and byzantine era to renaissance and modern times. Many of her works are attune to moments in nature and her childhood experiences in the island of Crete, the beautiful light of the mesmerising sun, the heavenly beaches, the gold of the byzantine iconography. She loves painting what emotionally and visually strikes her interest from landscapes and shorelines to abstract ideas and feelings. She does not set boundaries on what to paint and allows herself to be free to chance, spontaneity and light. Sometimes, the crushing waves highlight some kind of energy and that conveys a sense of vitality and in a way envelops herself and perhaps the viewer into his own world of water and waves. She loves that crushing sound, the colours, the pebbles, but at the same time she appreciates and relishes the diversity and beauty of this world. Chance and the unexpected has played an important role in her life and that is why she integrates these components in her artistic journey to take anyone to unknown paths, to unexpected surprises.
She has had solo exhibitions in Singapore and many group exhibitions around the world since 2015. She has works currently exhibiting and represented in U concept Gallery in Shanghai , Gallery1819 in Singapore and many collaborations with highly esteemed online galleries. One of her works has been a finalist at the International Artist Grand prize competition in A.R.T Taipei 2019 and a lot of my works are in private collections around the world.
