Denise Lacarra Fernández was born in the city of San Diego Ca., but considers Tijuana B.C. Mexico her hometown.
For Denise, painting is a way to communicate with herself through an intuitive journey of self-discovery.
She attended Athenaeum School of the Arts School, La Jolla, Ca. (2001-2009), Losina Art Center, SanDiego, Ca. (2004-2008), Watts Atelier of the Arts, Encinitas, Ca. (2006-2007), Painting with E. Ciapara, Tijuana B.C. (2012-2015), and in multiple free workshops under the tutelage of teachers and artists of recognized prestige in Baja California
She has ventured into artistic residencies mostly in Europe; Moriwaki, Caunes-Minervois, France (2012-2019).Les Ateliers de Berges, France (2021- 2022). Master Series Residency Aimone, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Smyrna, Fl, (2017).Moulin de Perrot, Gilhac et Bruzac, France (2005-2010), and at The Florence Academy of Art, Florence, Italy (2006).
She has participated in multiple group exhibitions both in the region, as well as in the United States, Italy and France.
