Vera Kulikova was born in Moscow, Russia in 1983. Creativity has always been a part of her life. At age of 12 she was interested in Russian native embroidery. After graduation at the school of embroidery where she had her first step in drawing and painting she decided to enroll to the Moscow Textile University. After Master's degree she started to work in an architectural studio and received her second degree in interior design. It was a time of the computer art, drafts, layouts and an interiors decorating stuff without paintings. In 2014 Vera moved with her husband and 3 daughters to California. At the same time she returned to painting.
For Vera painting is a kind of meditation, time to be with herself and her thoughts. She find her inspiration in a very simple things. She tries to see beauty in everything that surrounds her.
"My
daughter gave me a bouquet of cherry blossoms and I wanted to
capture it, I wanted to keep my feelings, my inspiration. When I
have a great day on the ocean with my friends I want to leave it in
my memory: I take paints, paper or canvas and create. I am happy I may express all my emotions on canvas and share
them with everyone.
I primarily paint in oil but I also try acrylic, pastels, collages and
other mediums. I can say: now I’m at my new wave to express
myself.
My artworks are influenced by French Impressionism and Russian
Fine Art of Early 20 century and also Russian Decorative Art. My
style can be described as very colorful, decorative and full of life." Vera Kulikova
