Fatina Kong graduated from the Academy of Visual Art, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2015. After receiving her art degree, she keeps exploring the combination of Chinese painting and Western media.
Kong was born in mainland China, Guangzhou, migrated to hong kong during her adolescence. Growing up in Hong Kong, and received mostly Western art training, all these brought her an identity crisis. Kong was vague about the technique and style after graduation from university. In 2018, She went to Xining, China to study Buddha painting thangka, and stayed in Japan for one month for the artist residency program. She found that Eastern aesthetics and literati thoughts had been deep-seated in her personality.
Since then, Kong combines ink, acrylic, Chinese pigments on silk as painting media, and the emptiness in painting achieves traditional Chinese aesthetic.
