Mojca Kocbek
is a Slovenian architect with a Master's degree in scenography. She has been working in
both fields for a number of years, focusing solely on architecture for the past
three. Her architectural work ranges from interior design, family houses, renovations
and public projects of different scale. In her projects she always places the
individual experience of the user first, to unfold in as of yet unwritten
stories in the newly built or renovated buildings.
She has
received a number awards for her work: at the Month of Design 2014 she received
1st place for her spatial
installation Write to me; was recognised for her scenography of the
play Eve of Retirement with Slovenia’s highest Theatre award
at the Borštnik meeting; in 2016, together with architect P. Boršič, won the
tender for a water sculpture in Ljubljana; and in 2017, together with Dekleva
Gregorič architects, got in the final four at international competition for the
renovation proposal of the Slovenian National Theatre Drama in Ljubljana. In
2019 she received 2nd place at the
International two phase competition for the fountain at the Chemntiz city
Square. In 2019, she founded the architectural practice M.Kocbek architects,
where she continues to tackle architectural and artistic/spatial challenges
both individually and together with other architects and artists.
