I am a French artist who, prior to painting, have been working in the film and stage industries.
Drawing and painting were other forms of creativity that always stimulated my interest. After spending hours of pre-production drawing storyboards for film projects and creating four paintings for my short film "Fractals", I felt compelled to explore my creative ideas on paper and canvas furthermore.
That's how I started creating oil and charcoal portraits. I would define my style as "narrative portraits". My art is inspired of my background as a storyteller. Each of my portraits exists to tell it's subject's story through a captured moment. The chaos of life and how people react to it is my biggest inspiration.
There are multiple sources that influenced me from sculpture and painting to cinema and literature. Carpeaux, Courbet, Chaplin and Hugo are some of them for their truthful ways to depict the essence of what we, human beings, are. This is what I aim for in my work, to depict the essence of a person. It is what prompted me to become an artist and what I want to share through my work.
