Eri Kato (b. 1967, Aichi, Japan) is a Japanese contemporary artist whose practice centers on reconstructing discarded everyday materials such as cardboard boxes and printed paper packaging into layered, textured surfaces. She completed her studies at the B-Zemi Schooling System in 1994. Her work explores the accumulation and transformation of these ephemeral fragments into forms that evoke memory, time, and materiality.
She has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo and Nagoya, Japan. Selected international competitions and exhibitions include the London International Creative Competition (2024, 2023), the 7th International Biennale of Non-Objective Art (2023, Pont-de-Claix, France), Paper Sculptural, Association for Contemporary Art Ruhrgebiet (2020, Oberhausen, Germany), Art United – New York Art Competition (2020, 4th Prize, online), Finalist Exhibition, 34th Chelsea International Fine Art Competition (2019, New York), EWAAC Finalist Exhibition (2015–2017, London), and the Philip Morris Art Award Finalist Exhibition (1996, Tokyo).
