Olga Kataeva-Rochford is a professional painter, graphic artist and an art teacher, member of the Taylor Foundation (Paris), Art
Critics Association (AIS). She is PhD graduated in cinema and audiovisual arts
(2018).
Born in 1986 in Leningrad (USSR), she spent her
childhood in Russia, a country swept at the time by the fresh wind of the
Perestroika, when new ideas and new hopes were not lacking.
She followed her professional training in art in Saint Petersburg where the Russian
Museum, the Hermitage and the Academy of Fine Arts made her discover the work
of the masters. This training was completed by theoretical research on the
drawing medium as part of a doctorate in Paris, the city where she currently
lives, at the crossroads of cultures.
Olga works mainly in tempera, this technique
used since the Middle Ages for painting frescoes and icons. Its natural
pigments and the harmonious softness of its colors are propitious to the
creation of universal images, which make you dream and open to the eye beyond
the visible. Ink and watercolor allow her to work on the expressiveness of the
gesture. Finally, charcoal and sepia offer her endless possibilities for
exploring the depth of tones.
Olga participated in more than 60 group
exhibitions in Russia and Europe and held 6 personal exhibitions in Paris. Her artworks
are part of public collections: the House of Graphic Arts Dmitriï Rovinskï
(Moscow, Russia), the Museum of Fine Arts (Ekaterinburg, Russia); and private
collections (Russia, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Austria, United
States, China).
