LEA
JAZBEC (1979, SLO)
Intermedia
artist
She
holds MFA, BFA degree with honours from FA (Accademia di Belle Arti
di Venezia), Venice, Italy, with prof. Carlo di Raco, Gaetano
Mainenti and Atej Tutta.
Jazbec
is interested in different media, with special attention to the
light. In her work and projects, she purposely moves between them and
connects them to each other. She uses drawing to give shape to her
ideas.
“Drawing
is a technique that connects all other techniques.”
She
believes that concrete research is related to the use of various
spatial techniques using different "spatial keys". Looking
at one object from different angles, exploring through the visible,
to discover and display the hidden or new. Mixed media, such as
graphics, collage, sculpture, photography, video, stop motion
animation, are the means by which she shapes and composes
site-specific organisms, namely light, sound and video installations.
She often works in series, departing from a single work which
organically evolves in a step-by-step process. Each new part of the
series generates from questions raised by the previous work, and so
on. Her interest turned toward light and space in 2008/2009 when she
was in Venice studying for her MFA at the Accademia di Belle Arti and
doing a one-year art residency at Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation.
During this time, originate her early (spatial) installations
“Panorama” and “Artificial walls of mystery”. Transparency,
which later directed to the exploration of light, became important to
her work. In recent years, she has been working on a transcription of
past drawings she made as part of the series “Time, Eye, Body”.
This project represents a base for research and interpretation of
both, her older works and current methodology.
In
the field of visual art she has exhibited internationally in Italy;
Venice, Milan, Udine, London UK, Austria and Slovenia. Today, her
works feature in several private collections in Japan, Italy, Spain,
England, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia, and in the
collection of the Museum of Tržič.
