‘I am currently making work with a simplicity and lack of ‘polish’. I use random stuff: cheap and mundane materials, found or discarded domestic objects, often with a personal connection. Ideas of fragility and loss are key.’
Clare was recently commissioned by Sculpture in the City 2018 to make a new work for the City of London. Her 33 metre long work Sari Garden can be seen at Heneage Lane, London EC3 5DQ until the end of April 2019.
Clare Jarrett has worked as a painter, printmaker, illustrator and lecturer at Chelsea School of Art and RCA. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally including Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Spain and Poland. She has published five children’s books as author/illustrator. Awards include: Malvern Open Drawing, Mother Goose Award, Arts Council Escalator Literature award, Hawthornden writing fellowship.
