In 2022, Clare was the Australian winner of the M&C Saatchi Group and Saatchi Gallery (London), ‘Art for Change’ award. Her work is held in both private and public collections around Australia, including a commemorative acquisition for the new Chancellor at James Cook University in Townsville Australia.
Clare Jaque Vasquez is an emerging Aboriginal artist from Gomeroi/Kamilaroi nation of mixed herritage. Clare grew up within the Eora Nation (Sydney) and moved back on Country in community in a small town near Tamworth in New South Wales. Clare now works from a studio based on Bindal and Wulgurukaba Country in far north QLD.
Clare's acrylic and impasto works capture stories of her experience with culture, identity and growing up with three generations. Her works are a unique raised textural form leveraging natural, bodily and western art tools.
