Hello,
my name is Jonathan Bocca I recently graduated in Interior
and Furniture Design at the IED in Florence.
If I believed that Design is only to stay in front of a computer I
would have probably already abandoned it.
In all the projects that I have carried out, and I am carrying out,
I have always given space to manual work, because I think that
until one does not get his hands dirty he does not fully know the
material that is working with. Furthermore, a designer cannot
discover about materials’ hidden potentiality.
Today in Italy, the artisanship is continually devalued and taken
for granted, but as soon as an object breaks, we tend to replace it
instead of repairing it.
Today the designers’ project fast food objects, without selfquestioning
about their origin or provenance. I do not know how
right or wrong this approach be, but I know that none is justified
to produce waste to affect negatively on the others’ life.
