Vasilisa Ikryannikova is an Amsterdam-based filmmaker and visual artist working across moving image, costume design, and installation. Born in Moscow and trained at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Moving Image / Audiovisual Design, 2024), her practice investigates liminal spaces, the human condition and their intersections.
Her graduation film Song of the Sanctuary premiered at Eye Film Museum, and was part of the official selection of the Nederlands Film Festival 2024. In 2025 was nominated for Best Emerging Talent at the Sarajevo Fashion Film Festival. The film's original costume design forms the basis of her current submission, demonstrating her approach to fashion as a spatial and narrative language. Exploring its complicated placement in the art context between commodity, artwork and the body that wears it.
In the visual arts, her lenticular prints Coupé – [Moving Stills] were exhibited and sold at KunstRAI Amsterdam 2025. The work encapsulates a central preoccupation: the moving image made tactile in her exploration of haptics within the moving image - cinema as object.
She is currently in production on her AFK-funded debut short film produced by Blokmakers, continuing her exploration of haptic and sensory space through the lens of female anger.
Her work has been shown at the Stedelijk Museum, Eye Film Museum, KunstRAI and Bimhuis among others. Her fashion work has been featured in Numéro Netherlands and Kaltblut Magazine.
