She creates three-dimensional works based on the theme of Ibaho (Being-place ). The most recent work “Ibasho†is a work in which rounded large and small objects are arranged in the exhibition space. It is a work that lets you imagine what creatures live in.
She combines scrap materials and shapes them. Sharpen with a chisel, smoothen, and colors with a colored pencil. It is interesting that the nature differs depending on the wood, and the difference in the finish appears.
Ever since she was a child, she has been interested in what happens when she moves places. She advanced to the university in Saga Prefecture, where there was no connection. She explains, “I am fascinated by the change in my senses when I meet others.†The “nest†where the sense changes inside and outside is an extension in her interest for artworks.
She majored in sculpture at university and moved to Tokyo and became an art teacher after graduating. She rewarded her job but retired to concentrate on her artwork. She advanced to graduate school and got a government scholarship from the Czech Republic to study abroad in 2017.
The foreign country colder than her hometown was uncomfortable. She can't hear words and can't communicate. She had looked around to negotiate for an atelier and an exhibition place while having a homesick soliciting.
There was a change in the work. The wood that was used previous artworks was a stable and warm material for her. It was incompatible with the unstable feelings in other countries. The artwork was titled "Jsem Tady", means "I am here" in Czech. There was a hole where people could enter, but it was a splintered shape. “I can enter, but when I enter, it is broken. It ’s a work that shows the feelings of those days.â€
The foreign experience further clarified interest in the theme of Ibaho, which relates between personal existence meaning and place. Currently, she continues to work while moving back and forth between Japan and the Czech Republic.
