Veronica Ibargüengoitia is a Mexican-born conceptual artist based in the U.S. since 2009. Her research-driven work explores resilience, displacement, and identity through themes of migration and cultural adaptation. She holds an MFA in Sculpture from the University of North Texas, an MA in Philosophy, and degrees in Industrial Design.
Her work has been exhibited across the U.S. in institutions such as institutions such as the Holocaust Museum Houston, the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans, the El Paso Museum of Art, Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juárez, and Dallas Contemporary, and internationally, including venues in Mexico, Portugal, France, and Italy. She is a recipient of the Houston Artadia Fellowship, the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award from International Sculpture Center and a Fulbright Graduate Research Grant, which she used to study in Barcelona.
Her recent collaborative work with artists abroad involves collecting soil and sand samples from border countries along the busiest migration routes Spain, Italy, and Greece and the Mex-US borderlands.
