Coco Ho (b. 1995, Hong Kong) is an artist and writer based in London and Shanghai. Her auto-fictional practice spans moving image, poetry and prose writing, performance, and works on paper. She holds an MFA in Fine Art from the University of Oxford and works across languages and cultural contexts, drawing on her diverse background from Hong Kong, mainland China, the US and the UK.
Ho's practice explores intimacy, human relationships and identity through experimental and hybrid forms. Vulnerability is reframed through fantastical characters and speculative scenarios, where humor and satire intermingle with melancholy to critique and reflect on the social phenomena shaping contemporary life: capitalism, technology, mental health, and the commodification of intimacy.
Ho has been an artist-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai and the K11 x ArtReview Residency in Wuhan. Her work has been shortlisted for New Contemporaries 2024, and exhibited internationally, including at the K11 Art Foundation during Art Basel Hong Kong, the K11 Art Fair, Modephant Art Space, and Swatch Art Peace Hotel in collaboration with Sundial. Her freelance and commissioned work, produced by NOWNESS, has been awarded and shortlisted at various international film festivals, including Shanghai International Film Festival (2020, 2022), Bolton International Film Festival (2022), and Rhode Island International Film Festival (2022).
