I am a maker. I was born and raised in Detroit and I like tools and rust and fire. Arcane and organic and disparate things – ideas, items, images – intrigue me, and I am compelled to puzzle them together into narratives that are both reflective and provocative. The binding nature of beeswax frees my stories to take on any number of forms: elemental assemblages built one found object at a time; vibrant abstracts in illuminated hues; poignant memento mori infused with the scent of honey. Whether a tribute or lament or call to action, each piece of my art is animated by the work ethic of bees, our world’s most essential makers.
