Marco Hemmerling is founding partner of
SPADE, an interdisciplinary design studio working across different
scales and typologies – from architecture to product design and art
installations.
His work is part of the collection at
the Design Museum in Munich, the Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne, the Museum
of Applied Arts in Vienna, and the the German Museum of Technology in Berlin. It was exhibited at international art
festivals, such as the Hybrid Art Exhibition in Moscow, the Arbres et Lumières Festival in Geneva and the Islamic Arts Festival
in Sharjah. For the year 2024/25, he has been awarded a scholarship of
the German Academy in Rome at Casa Baldi, considered one of the most
important awards for outstanding artists in the fields of visual arts,
architecture, literature and music.
Marco engages
in teaching and research as Professor of Computational Design in Architecture
at Cologne University of Applied Sciences and is a Visiting Professor at
Politecnico Milano. Before he was a Professor at the Detmold School of
Architecture and Interior Design and led the postgraduate MA course
‚Computational Design and Construction‘ at the East-Westpahlia University of
Applied Sciences. He lives and works in Cologne and Milan.
