Helga has started her artistic education with an
apprenticeship for sculpting in Bad Kleinkirchheim / Austria. In summer 1998
she worked in the Gallery of Timeless Sculptures in Kings Beach in California
and gained a lot of knowledge in casting techniques and wood carving.
In September 2010 she joined the master course for
cultural production in Salzburg and finished her studies in October 2012. It
was there when she started to work on “The Stone Diary”, a book series
documenting her cooperation with different cultures. The first volume is now
online where it can be read on the blog www.palassart.com and tells the
story of her collaboration with Zimbabwean sculptors. To bring people with
different cultural backgrounds together and to develop intercultural sensitivity
is at the heart of this undertaking.
In fall 2014 she was invited to Nepal to build a peace
sculpture for the Miteri Peace Learning Center in Jumla. “Stone Diary 2” tells
the story of this project in Nepal.
“Stone Diary 3” will be about the famous ‘Khachkars’
in Armenia, stones that have been carved since the 7th century until
the present time. Further information is available under www.palassart.com
