The Liechtenstein artist Heinz P. Nitzsche was born in Grabs, the canton of St. Gallen in 1954 and grew up in Vaduz, the Principality of Liechtenstein.
Already at school, he was fascinated by art and drawing lessons. He would have loved to study art. His parents, however looking at art as a breadless profession, advised him against it, and so Heinz P. Nitzsche completed an internship as draftsman. He worked for several years in an architectural office, obtained his vocational diploma and studied architecture in Konstanz, Germany. He subsequently worked as an architect in Switzerland and later on, self-employed in Liechtenstein.
Since 2010 he has taken various courses for artistic and creative design. After fulfilling years as an architect, his focus since 2015 has increasingly been on working as a freelance artist.
Heinz P. Nitzsche is a member of Visarte, the professional association for visual art Switzerland/Liech- tenstein, as well as sculpture-network, a europe-wide network for the promotion of contemporary sculpture as well as the archive for artworks from Eastern Switzerland.
"I love to work with natural materials such as wood, concrete or plaster. It is important to me that the materials derive from the region and preserve their naturalness. In analogy to architecture, the works are often created according to the principle sketch, model and execution. Space, offers the human being in material as in immaterial terms, the opportunity to unfold. It is significant to me to create a positive sense of space with my work, to establish a constructive relationship between the observer and the work.
Thematically I am fascinated with the dynamics of the relationship between individual and space, with the inner drive, the confrontation with the own self - and its counterpart.
In addition to my work in the sculptural field, painting has taken an equal place. Favored materials are usually acrylic and graphite."
