Nea-Mari Heinonen was
born in Tampere, Finland in 1979. Already as a child, she was drawn to art and
enjoyed drawing and aquarelle painting. The busy academic years and a career in
international development cooperation moved aside the artistic endeavors for
many years. It was only after the birth of her daughter that she got
reconnected with her artistic side again. She returned to studying art, first in
the local adult education institute and then through Open University basic and
subject studies in fine arts, devouring all knowledge and practice she could.
Fine arts never stop surprising her as an endless source of inspiration and
desire for learning more.
Environmental and global issues are important to Nea-Mari. She also likes to
wonder about human beings and their ways. She wants to believe that art is an
indiscriminately open channel for all for self-expression and creating an
impact in the world.
Her
favorite mediums at the moment are charcoal, pencil and oil colors, often using
mixed media.
Nea-Mari currently lives
in Vantaa, Finland.
