I have always been told I am creative, albeit on occasion for want of a better word.
I left school at 15 having completed and passed all my exams including one in graphic design, one in art and one in craft design and technology.
As I was too young to attend college I found an apprenticeship at a company that made exhibition stands. This was perfect because it incorporated 3d design, model making and production and assembly of all by hand as it was pre-computer age.
I then worked in advertising where everything was also handmade.
At the age of 18 I moved to Switzerland which enabled me to improve my French and put me in a position to go to college to study fashion design in what I have always considered to be the heart or core of the fashion industry and many other arts, Italy.
When I got off the train in SMN Firenze it was love at first sight.
After that I returned to England to study tailoring in house of a bespoken tailor from italy. It was great but I could not settle there as I wanted to move back to Italy.
I made an agreement to oversee a property development in the South of France on the basis that it would enable me to return to Italy. The foreseen 6 months became 3 years but on completion of the project I was able to move back.
Over the years I had acquired the know how of a whole range of creative domaines which I started to combine in order to create something new and unexpected. I take a base and build up or out from it…leaving the little of littlest one dimensional.
I collect, retrieve or save things that others discard or overlook and preserve or reanimate them on whichever base I feel appropriate. From canvases to tees…whatever I can ‘see’.
I see things differently.
I ‘Upcycle’.
I am creative, I am an artist…and ALL is art.
