She begins each work without sketches or predetermined forms, starting instead with a single base colour and building the image through multiple finely blended layers. The painting reveals itself gradually, allowing unexpected shapes and atmospheres to emerge. Many of her works can be rotated when displayed, offering shifting perspectives and inviting viewers to discover new interpretations.
Her lifelong fascination with clouds and expansive skies began in North London, where uninterrupted views toward the Hertfordshire countryside shaped her early imagination. After nearly two decades away from painting, she returned to her practice in 2008 while living in Norfolk, focusing on seascapes and horizon‑driven compositions.
In 2009, Charm moved to Jeddah, Durat Al Arus in Saudi Arabia, where the desert light and vast skies over the Red Sea further influenced her evolving style. She joined the Saudi Fine Arts Centre in 2010 and exhibited in its 25th‑anniversary celebration the following year. During this period, she received encouragement from Noel Coret, then Director of the Société du Salon d’Automne in Paris, recognising the distinctiveness of her intuitive, atmospheric approach.
Charm continues to explore the shifting language of clouds, colour, and form—creating paintings that emerge through trust, observation, and the quiet dialogue between artist and sky.
