Fascinated by the concept of transformation I fuse new materials with carefully selected found 'treasures' to create sculptures that offer a kaleidoscope of vibrant colours and express a playful humour. There are no restrictions in the mix of materials I use, so old masks, antiques, plastic toys, broken shards of porcelain can all be combined. Re-using as many used materials as possible is an important component of my work, as I am acutely aware of our heavy ecological footstep on this earth. I call used objects 'found treasures' because that is what they are to me. They provide endless potential to be be re-formed in to something completely new and unique. My aim is to create pieces that make the viewer reconsider their perception of an ordinary object and in turn reconsider their perspective of beauty.
Born in England, I have lived most of my life in Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Netherlands, where I currently live and work.
