«Canvas as a Mirror of the Soul and the Universe»
Elena Guseva, creative nickname "Elegusart" is a contemporary artist whose work is a kind of bridge between the individual inner world and the boundless depth of the Universe. The main concept of her work is a kind of ode to the French phrase and lifestyle "L'art de vivre" and becomes the embodiment of her boundless joy of being.
Elena's life began at the foot of the picturesque Ural Mountains (Russia, Sevenroyalsk, 1959), where in childhood, among the generous beauty of endless natural spaces, a deep attachment to beauty and aesthetics arose. Her passion was supported and encouraged in the family from an early attentive contemplation of the surrounding world, art, literature and music.
This love for original details, from the grace of flowers to the grace of ballerinas, later became the foundation of her art education at the city art school and subsequent training in the private studio of the famous professional artist Viktor Vorobyov. A parallel passion for literature and librarianship only enriched her perception of the world, adding semantic multi-layeredness to her works.
Elena's life odyssey is varied, from the vast expanses of Russia to the picturesque Sakhalin Island near Japan and, finally, a move to Spain in 2000, which became the catalyst for her creative rebirth. Adaptation and finding her place in a new culture, especially in the vibrant and welcoming Valencia, where she successfully worked as an individual tourist guide for over ten years, allowed her to accumulate unique life experience. This experience, filled with rapturous beauty and wisdom, resulted in an irresistible desire to thoroughly return to painting again and express a renewed understanding of the world through bright colors and forms.
Her art is divided into two powerful lines: - an organic figurative abstract, radiating expression, cheerfulness and energy of everyday beauty of the surrounding space, and another branch - deeper abstract canvases with meaning, sometimes with a predominance of a deep dark background, dynamic interweaving of forms and lines, exploring the themes of "Space, Time, Universe, Creation, Chaos, Harmony".
Elena masterfully works in modern mixed media, using volumetric textural elements, collage and graphic inscriptions - skills honed at the International School of modern Creativity in Moscow and later in Spain. Her method is the creation of expressive chaos from volumetric elements, which is then detailed and clothed in recognizable forms, linking illusion and emotion, delight and surprise. Inspired by French and Spanish expressionists: Van Gogh, Renoir, Velazquez, Joaquin Sorolla and the conceptual laconicism of the "rebus canvases" of Eduardo Aroyo, Elena creates works that are a manifesto of personal Freedom - one of the key life values of the artist, which are clearly manifested in every brushstroke and composition.
Her paintings are both a visually vibrant feast and a deep philosophical message: a call to appreciate life, to notice its beauty in the big and small, to fill hearts with delight and gratitude for the greatness of the World.
Elena Guseva's works have already attracted the attention of the international art community, winning third place at The Golden Time Talent International Competition (UK, January 2025) and participating in an exhibition in the Swiss gallery Art Voyage (Zofingen, December 2024). Today Elena lives and creates in Valencia, a city that has become her constant love and an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
