Laura Guoke is a visual artist living and creating in Radviliskis district, Lithuania. Most often she selects socially active topics, disclosing the moments of social incapacity, and analysing the issues of human existence. On the other hand, her pieces of art are full of self-contemplation, transcendental reflection, going deep into subconscious processes, etc. Visual language of L. Guoke is rather daring and unpredictable, although never brutal or shocking. Even though the author following her age is attributed to young artists, she has already organised over 17 personal exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. She has represented Lithuania in international projects in Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Italy, USA, Estonia, etc. Moreover, she takes an active part in group exhibitions, symposiums. L. Guoke is also an exhibition curator, worked as a lecturer in Siauliai University Art Faculty and has received a great number of awards and important assessments. A member of the Lithuanian Artists‘ Association.
In 2015 and 2017 L. Guoke received a private national grant for cultural and artistic creators from Lithuanian Council for Culture. Her portrait from In Lithuanian Village series was also chosen for BP Portrait Award 2016 exhibition at National Portrait Gallery in London and won a Travel Award.
Her artistic project Portraits from The Ritsona Refugee Camp in 2017 were exhibited at National Portrait Gallery, London and Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery Exeter and now is on display at Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh and after will travel to Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.
Recently Laura won a first prize at the international painting competition organized by Three Bridges Foundation (Warsaw, Poland).
