Deeply concerned with the current state of the environment, I seek to understand what it means to be human in a time of crisis and extinction through my work.
As someone interested in the parallels and connections within our (eco)systems, the use of multiple screens allows me to examine these, together to create contrasting narratives with the intention of giving the viewer a certain freedom for interpretation.
The first stages of my work happen outdoors, often in remote environments. These are moments of discovery as well as reconnection. Travelling to these places and meeting different communities allows me to gain new perspectives on our complex relationship with nature.
Through my practice, I reflect upon these aspects related to this relationship while giving particular importance to the body - a key element in my work. By using the body as a meeting point between viewer and subject matter, I seek to open discourse regarding multi-species kinship.
I make use of the body as a vessel for interpreting and in a sense embodying living beings, as well as the non-living that makes up for our natural world. With this in mind, the body is simultaneously depicted as a landscape within my work and presented as a terrain full of forms, textures and temperatures of its own.
