My work takes inspiration from abstract expressionism, informal and conceptual art and moves toward the direction of exploring human big questions about transformation, mystery, decay, mutation, evolution, but also human nature and its fragility in modern times.
Although abstract, my paintings are not based on random colors and shapes. Being a neuroscientist working in the field of Affective Neuroscience, I take advantage of my knowledge about emotions and the brain to stimulate the mind and the body of the observer.
I do not use common materials nor classic canvas. I consider art as an experiment and a process, not a product. I use synthetic and sometimes organic substances and let chemical reactions take place during the process. Half of the process is orchestrated by me, half is purely governed by physical and chemical reactions.
