Artist – ADRIANNE GRABMAN
Born in 1954 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Started painting at the age of 6.
Had tuition in watercolours and oil painting, Artworks were a realistic portrayal of subjects.
In 1978 received a BA degree from Witwatersrand University,South Africa.
Major subjects – History of Art and Fine Arts. Other subjects taken – Painting Techniques, Drawing from Life, History and Appreciation of Music and History of Drama.
In 1979 went to Israel to do a MFA Degree at Tel-Aviv University in Theatre Sets and Costumes. Received degree in 1984.
My thesis entitled "A GAME CALLED PERFORMANCE" involved the writing of the scenario, designing the set (plans, elevations and building a model) and covered the following areas – Avant-garde performance (Futurism, Dada, and Happenings), African Voodoo Rituals and Games. All 3 subjects have a number of characteristics in common on which the scenario was based.
After completing MFA in 1984 I returned to South Africa for 5 years, where I was Art Director on several International Feature Films and TV series.
In 1989 returned to Israel. Employed at Israel Educational Television as a Costume Designer until 2018. In 2002 was made Head of the Wardrobe Department Which included the administration.
In 2010 received the Prize for Outstanding Worker. I had supervised the putting of each garment on computer with a photograph and details of each garment in the Wardrobe Department.
Lectured in South Africa in 1985 on the following subjects-
- "How to experience Avant-garde Performance" and “Avant-garde Theatre”.
n 1990-1992 lectured a Tel Aviv University in the Film department. Subject – "Art Management in Feature Films". Students included 3rd year Directing students and MFA Design students.
2018 started painting again. Working on series "MUSIC, ART and COLOUR
